How long do you stick it out before making a change?

How long do you stick it out with your existing Etsy shop before deciding it's time for a change?  I've had my shop open for almost 2 years and I do admit to having worked on it harder over the last 6 months than in previous months.  Still I haven't had any sales and I'm beginning to wonder when it's time to jump ship and change to something different.  But what?

It's time to do some research and think about expanding what is available for sale in my shop.  I love to cross stitch and finish my pictures into keepsakes and home decor items but maybe it's time to branch out.  Do I stick with what I like or try to figure out what will sell?  I'm more inclined to be true to my style and just branch out into non-cross stitched items also.  Hmmmmm!

Just some food for thought!

Happy crafting everyone!

  1. You know, it's really hard for me to tell. I'm still deciding that myself. Perhaps opening a second etsy shop would be a good option? That way you can keep the products in the first one, but still branch out into this new one. I'm not making this very clear, hah. I hope this makes sense!

  2. It does make sense to open another shop if I go with something totally different than my stitched/primitive stuff. I'll have to think about it. Thanks for visiting my blog. I love to read other people's ideas and opinions.

  3. I just found your site today through the Etsy forums and love the look of your items. Looking at your sold items, your cards seem to be the clear winner. Perhaps branch out with your designs in cards, keeping them in the same shop. Also, perhaps branch out into larger pillows. I personally love your items, but would rather have a full-size pillow I can put on the couch than a small one.

If you ever need card supplies, just holler. :) All the best of luck to you!

  4. Thanks Tammy! I'll have to give the larger pillows a try. It does make sense to make bigger ones for the couch. I've always focused on using them on shelves, mantles, and cubby holes. I love to do the cards but probably should make more floral, specific occasion cards. I appreciate the feedback. It's nice to know someone likes what I do other than just me!

  5. I think direction is something that many Etsy sellers struggle with no matter what type of art they create. Have you tried additional avenues for selling you creations (which are lovely btw) such as craft shows, home parties or other online venues?

    Best of luck!
